New stimulus rule in place for these paying little one assist

DENVER (KDVR) – The coronavirus pandemic is affecting those paying child support in Colorado. With another round of stimulus testing, the rules change for these parents.

Charles Cory tells FOX31 Problem Solvers that he currently has his child support payments. While receiving a stimulus check in 2021, he said that part of the check he received in 2020 was withdrawn for child support.

“I’m confused because it wasn’t the first time I got the $ 600, but now I’m getting the $ 600 this time?” he said.

Colorado Child Support Services informs FOX31 that the first round of economic impact payments in 2020 had to be intercepted by parents who owed child support. “The economic impact payments approved in the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act are being intercepted by parents with non-child support cases. “

The department also says the second round of stimulus payments will not affect anyone’s ability to qualify for SNAP nutritional aid programs.

Cory tells FOX31 that although the guidelines have changed, his priorities have not.

“I gave some of it to my ex-wife and kids, so at least I took care of that,” he said.
