Louisville man in custody following standoff in Jeffersontown

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Police arrested a man following a Jeffersontown standoff.

According to a Jeffersontown Police press release, officers reacted around 3:45 p.m. on the 2900 block of Palmetto Circle after reports that a man had assaulted a victim with a knife.

Police said the victim and child could escape to safety. Then the suspect, later identified as Decedric Binford, barricaded himself in the apartment.

Jeffersontown Police officers then contacted the Louisville Metro SWAT for assistance.

Binford surrendered to police around 6 p.m. and was taken into custody.

He is facing a second degree attack – domestic violence.

It is unclear when he will be tried.
