Guardian Advert Litems in Household Regulation – Males’s Divorce Podcast
Cordell & Cordell Executive / Managing Partner, CEO Scott Trout and litigation partner Dorothy Walsh Ripka explain the role a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) can play in your custody case.
A Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) is a court-appointed person – usually an attorney – who represents a minor child’s unlawful interest in a divorce. Your job is to consider what is in your child’s best interests and make a recommendation to the court.
While this sounds simple, it can be a complex process as courts tend to give the GAL report a lot of weight. Hence, the way you work with a GAL can have an extreme impact on your case.
If you have any questions about working with a GAL in your case, contact Cordell & Cordell.
