WVUP accepting baby care grant functions

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – WVU-Parkersburg accepts applications for childcare grants until the end of February. Applications can be downloaded online here and are due by February 28.

An applicant’s eligibility and the amount of assistance they will receive depend on a number of factors including:

  • Number of people in the household
  • Day care hours to cover educational and work obligations
  • Other utilities that can help
  • Enrollment status of students

The university has enough funds to support several students, although the exact number has not yet been determined as it depends on the amount of money each fellow needs.

All child carers selected by grant recipients must be licensed by the state of West Virginia as child carers.

“Since we no longer have a childcare facility on site, we would like to be able to support students who now have to use another licensed childcare facility. It is for this reason that these grants are given to provide students with the financial support they need to look after their children during class, ”said Dr. Torie Jackson, vice president, institutional development.
