Smyrna child at heart of AMBER Alert present in East Nashville, mom in custody | WJHL

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tennessee (WKRN) – The Smryna baby at the center of a statewide AMBER Alert was found safely in East Nashville and the child’s mother was taken into custody Thursday morning.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an AMBER Alert on Wednesday evening for nine-month-old Nichelle Omega, who was taken from the Smyrna Public Library by her 29-year-old custodial mother, Nyx Omega, according to the agency.

The AMBER Alert issued to Nichelle included a vehicle description of a silver 2008 Toyota Scion with number plate DGK392 and a mattress attached to the top of the car.

Metro police said they found the vehicle around 6:30 a.m. on Shelby Avenue near Interstate 24 in East Nashville. They later said they found Nichelle and Nyx Omega too.

Nichelle was taken to an ambulance for examination, while Nyx Omega was placed in the back of a patrol car.

Nyx Omega was wanted by the Smyrna police for police interference.
