Samuel Olson: Theresa Balboa misplaced custody of her personal youngsters

The children’s father describes a changeable relationship in court files.

HOUSTON – Theresa Balboa, 29, is currently on trial in connection with the death of a child believed to be her boyfriend, Samuel Olson’s 6-year-old son.

Samuel’s father, Dalton, allowed Balboa to watch Samuel with an ex-boyfriend, despite a warrant that Dalton had against her. According to court documents, Balboa attacked Dalton last November and was ordered to stay away from him and his family.

Court records reveal a difficult story Balboa had with the father of two of her own children, whom she lost custody of a year and a half before this week’s tragic developments.

A 2019 lawsuit filed in Harris County shows that both Balboa and her father missed a court date.

“There was an onslaught of verbal and physical abuse between the two of us.” This is how Theresa Balboa’s father of two children described their relationship when she lost custody long before the indictment in the #SamuelOlson case. “I got myself into a situation with this woman in which the only possible outcome was failure,” wrote the father of Balboa’s children in a letter to the judge, requesting that his mother be given custody. “It had gotten so bad between Theresa and There Ich and we couldn’t get along, it became an onslaught of verbal and physical abuse between us and each other.”

She appears to have had a son in 2009, according to Balboa’s social media, and court records show a child support failure arrest warrant that may be tied to him.

We also found one domestic violence case in which Balboa was the victim. Her boyfriend at the time was given two years probation and then 90 days in prison after failing to report to his probation officer.

Meanwhile, the remains of the child believed to be Samuel have been taken to the Harris County Coroner’s office for an autopsy.

It is with great sadness that I inform you that a body – which we believe to be six-year-old Samuel Olson – was recovered from a motel room in Jasper, Texas tonight. 1/2
