Kochi: A grade 3 student was burned by his relative with an iron box and a hot spatula near Thaikkudam here in the city.

The child was attacked by his sister’s husband for returning late after going to a store. The police have taken the defendant Prince into custody.

The incident, which occurred a few days ago, came to light after neighbors intervened. A neighbor shared pictures of the injured boy on WhatsApp. This later led to police operations.

Local residents said that Prince regularly attacked the child. They also accused the family of covering up these attacks.

The defendant burned both legs with a hot spatula and covered his mouth when he began to scream. He did not withdraw even after the child’s mother intervened. The boy claimed that Prince had attacked him regularly in the past.

Meanwhile, local residents claimed that Prince was not legally married to the boy’s sister. The boy’s father is paralyzed and bedridden. The police will soon be recording Prince’s arrest.
