Michigan police get well three kids kidnapped by mom after shedding custody

ROSEVILLE, MI – A mother allegedly refused to turn her three children over to their father after he won custody, spirited them away and went into hiding, FOX 2 Detroit reports.

It took police more than three weeks to track down the mother and children, the report said. The Roseville Police Department initially put out an alert for the missing children on July 8. Officers recovered them in “good health and spirits” on Sunday, Aug. 1.

Ruth Amo, 32, was ordered by a Macomb County court last month to turn over the children after their father was awarded custody, police said. She allegedly refused and went on the run instead.

After they were found, the children were turned over to child protective services while their father was on his way to pick them up, police said.
