Marjorie Taylor Greene Trolls Colleague With Transgender Little one

While spats between neighbors are not uncommon, we rarely hear them play out in the corridors of the United States Capitol. But that’s exactly what happened on Wednesday when MP Marjorie Taylor Greene mocked a colleague’s transgender child and supported equality law by hanging a sign outside her office saying there are only two genders.

Following the reintroduction of the Equality Act in the House of Representatives last week, MP Marie Newman placed a flag of transgender pride in front of her Capitol office. It was a change in the decor that she hoped her colleague across the hall would notice. “Our neighbor, [Rep. Greene]tried to block the equality bill for believing the ban on discrimination against trans-Americans is “disgusting, immoral and evil,” Newman tweeted early Wednesday. “I thought we’d put up our transgender flag so she could see it every time she opened her door.”

Well Greene noticed. And she responded to Newman’s transgender pride flag by holding a sign outside her office that read, “There are TWO genders: men and women, trust science!” Hung up.

“Our neighbor, [Newman]wants to pass the so-called “Equal Opportunities Act” to destroy women’s rights and religious freedom, “Greene tweeted when she shared a video of her hanging the sign.” We thought we’d put our video up so she could watch it every time her door opens. ”

Greene also refused to recognize Newman’s transgender daughter, telling the Illinois Democrat on Twitter, “As mothers, we all love and support our children. But your birth son does NOT belong in my daughters’ bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports teams.”

Newman has claimed she had no intention of starting a fight with Greene when she placed a transgender flag outside her office. Instead, she wanted to give Greene, who was outspoken against the equality law, a visible symbol of the LGBTQ + community. “I just wanted to make a statement so she could see LGBTQ + people,” Newman said in an interview with CNN. “She is welcome to her sign. Nobody is buying it, and that is not science.”

Greene’s sign, of course, did not affect Newman’s support for the Equality Act. “I am very proud of my daughter,” she tweeted on Thursday. “Our transgender flag represents not only them, but the millions of Americans who deserve not to be bullied or discriminated against by anyone – let alone a seated member of Congress. Enough with the hatred, let’s pass the #EqualityAct. ”

A number of Newman’s Democratic counterparts have denounced Greene’s mark, touting it as the perfect example of why Congress needs to pass the Equality Act and outlaw discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. “This hatred is exactly why the #EqualityAct is necessary and what we need to protect [Newman’s] Daughter and all of our LBGTQ + relatives on the other hand, “tweeted Rep. Sean Casten, calling the sign” sick, pathetic, unimaginably cruel “.

MEP Pramila Jayapal, whose child was revealed to have been gendered in 2018, thanked Newman for her tireless support of the Equal Opportunities Act. “From mother of one trans child to another, we will pass the #EqualityAct,” said Jayapal in a tweet to Newman. “For Evie, for Janak, for thousands more, in order to be able to fully be who they are. I am very pleased to welcome you to the congress.”
