Little one sufferer in Elkhart home hearth to be taken off life assist

ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) – It was a painful week of farewell for the family of 8-year-old Nyshaun Finch, who suffered serious injuries in a house fire on May 23 in Elkhart.

“He will be missed. I will miss my baby,” said Samantha Finch, Nyshaun’s grandmother.

After being flown to an Illinois children’s hospital, Nyshaun remained on life support until recent tests showed he had no brain activity.

“I mean, the nurses they were transformed him. They cleaned his, his valves. They checked that his temperature, his body temperature, was at a certain level, ”said Samantha. “It was – it was beautiful. But it was painful. “

His grandmother saw medical staff prepare Nyshaun for organ donation. His last operation was scheduled for 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

“It is nice for him to be able to help another child or another person. So his life is not in vain. That’s why I say he has to be a donor because I don’t want anyone else to suffer the pain we’re going through, ”said Roscoe Finch, Nyshaun’s father.

The family pain is carried by memories of a vivacious little boy.

“He was the best little boy anyone could ask for,” said Roscoe.

The Elkhart Fire Marshal said the department is working with police to determine the cause of the fire.
