Woman stabbed at Mattapan gas station; suspect taken into custody

A woman was injured early Tuesday in a stabbing at a gas station in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston, and another woman was taken into custody, the police said. The incident happened just before 2 am at a Mobil Gas Station at the corner of Blue Hill Avenue and Morton Street. Upon arrival, police found a woman suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.”There (were) two ladies who came in, and they were fighting right there, and after a while, it went outside. Outside, I just heard talking out there,” gas station clerk Ewart Smit said. Police said the suspect, later identified as Quasaia Smith, 22, of Dorchester, was found inside a car at the station. Officers forcibly entered her vehicle when she refused to exit, police said.A young child was inside the car at the time, officials said. The child was taken to Boston Children’s Hospital to be evaluated. A police officer was also taken to a hospital, treated and released. Smith was taken into custody and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The victim’s name was not released.
