A man was arrested after allegedly cutting power to the home of his ex-wife and their four children before breaking through a window and shooting them four times – all on the same day the two of them were due to appear in a custody hearing .

The incident occurred on Monday 28th Houston Station KTRK.

Authorities told KTRK that preliminary investigation has shown that Aaron B. Wright allegedly went to the unlocked electrical box on the side of the house and cut power to the house where his ex-wife Andrea Wright and their four children – – all between five and 12 years old – slept.

Police then claim Aaron Wright broke into the house through a back window before finding Andrea Wright and shooting her four times, according to the KTRK report. The four children were sleeping in their beds at the time of the shooting and were not injured.

Surveillance received from KTRK shows the suspect and an accomplice are walking towards Andrea Wright’s house after allegedly driving his work car there and parking on the street. Only a few minutes later the couple can be seen fleeing in the opposite direction. MPs believe the second suspect is Wright’s new girlfriend.

“This guy has to be crazy to do this in front of his kids [try to] kill her mother, I mean, there is something wrong with this guy, ”a neighbor told KTRK in an interview after the incident.

A man was arrested after allegedly cutting power to the home of his ex-wife and their four children before breaking into a window in a suburb of northwest Houston, Texas, and them on Monday, June 28, 2021 shot four times.

Investigators told KTRK that Aaron Wright may have expected to lose custody of his four children later that day when Andrea and Aaron Wright were due to appear for a custody hearing in court.

Harris County Assistant Investigator John Mook told KTRK that he believes the couple have been divorced for about a year and that Aaron Wright has reportedly threatened Andrea Wright’s new boyfriend in the past.

“I understand that he threatened the new boyfriend several times,” Mook told KTRK. “I’m sure this was a contentious divorce too. We’re looking into all of this.”

Andrea Wright reportedly called the police home several times in the past three months and even received an injunction against Aaron Wright last year. According to the KTRK, a judge rejected an application for permanence in November 2020.

“Yes, I think that’s a problem,” the unidentified neighbor told KTRK. “Unfortunately, this is our judicial system, and I think there have to be some changes to keep such people away from these people – their ex-husband who they know is a violent person.”

Andrea Wright was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she is recovering and in stable condition, according to a tweet from Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales. Investigators told KTRK that the four children are now safe and will stay with their grandmother.

Aaron Wright was located just hours later and, according to Sheriff Gonzales, was booked into the Harris County Jail for aggravated assault. It is unclear whether his accomplice was arrested when he was arrested on Monday.

It is unclear whether Aaron Wright has hired a lawyer and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
