Lacking 10-year-old discovered secure after in a single day Amber Alert; suspect in custody

NEW IBERIA – Louisiana state police say a missing ten year old girl has been found.

State Police issued a press release stating that a Amber Alert, issued on behalf of the New Iberia Police Department, was canceled after locating 10-year-old Jalisa Lassalle, who was found in St. Martin Parish.

Police say the child is being examined by medical staff and that one person is being held in connection with her disappearance.

According to the KATC, the detainee was charged with aggravated kidnapping.

The authorities had issued a recommendation for at-risk / missing children of level II because of missing Lasalle on Sunday evening (February 7th).

She had been seen getting into a gray four-door car (possibly a Nissan or Honda) with a registered sex offender named Michael Sereal and was believed to be in imminent danger. KATC reports that the vehicle was apparently found in a field via a video posted on social media.

According to the state police, an investigation into the incident has not yet been completed.
