Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, who welcomed his second child, a young boy, with actress Kareena Kapoor Khan on Sunday, thanked the well-wishers for their love and support.

The star couple announced the pregnancy in August. Their first child, son Taimur Ali Khan, is four years old.

Saif, 50, said both the baby and Kareena were healthy.

“We were blessed with a little boy. Mother and child are safe and healthy. Many thanks to our well-wishers for their love and support,” said the “Tandav” actor in a statement.

Kareena, who was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital early in the morning, gave birth around 9 a.m.

“She gave birth to a boy around 9 am in the morning. I’ll be visiting her soon,” Kareena’s father, veteran actor Randhir Kapoor, told PTI earlier in the day.

Family members and industry colleagues used social media to congratulate the couple.

Actress Karisma Kapoor took to Instagram and shared a throwback picture of her younger sister Kareena as a child in her father’s arms.

“This is my sister when she was born again and now she’s a mom again! And I’m a Masi (aunt) again who is so excited,” Karisma signed the picture.

The actress Neetu Kapoor has posted a picture of herself together with the niece Kareena, the son of the actor Ranbir and the daughter of the fashion designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahani.

“Congratulations, Kareena and Saif. Another addition to the cuties,” she wrote in the headline.

Riddhima shared a picture on Instagram and wrote, “Congratulations, Bebo and Saif. It’s a boy.” The couple’s fashion designer and close friend Manish Malhotra tweeted, “Congratulations to my dearest #KareenaKapoorKhan and the fabulous #SaifAliKhan.” Actor Neha Dhupia shared her wishes with the couple, saying it was “the best news ever”. “Congratulations @kareenakapoorkhan, Saif and Taimur,” wrote actress Dia Mirza on her Instagram story.

Kareena, 40, and Saif welcomed their first child, Taimur, on December 20, 2016. An internet sensation since he was born, Taimur is followed 24/7 by the paparazzi.

Back then, shortly after the boy was named Taimur, people on social media had started questioning the origin of the name.

Saif tied the knot with Kareena in October 2012 after five years of advertising.

He was previously married to the actor Amrita Singh, with whom he shares the actor’s daughter Sara Ali Khan (25) and their son Ibrahim Ali Khan (19).
