Kanye West is seeking joint custody of the four children he shares with Kim Kardashian West in the celebrity couple’s divorce, according to TMZ and People reports.

West filed its legal response on the divorce from Kardashian West on Friday, according to People, who received a copy of the documents. In response, the rapper also called for the court to terminate the right to provide spousal support to a person.

In the event of a divorce, spousal support or maintenance can be granted to a partner who earns significantly less money than the other partner, unless otherwise specified in a marriage agreement. West, 43, and Kardashian West, 40, are both billionaires and have reportedly struck a nuptial agreement that neither of them denies.

Kardashian West filed for divorce from West on February 19, 2021 after seven years of marriage. Sources told TMZ, which first reported the news, that the split was “amicable” and that the couple was “committed to parenting”. Kardashian West was applying for joint custody of the children at the time of their filing, according to TMZ.

Representatives from West and Kardashian West did not immediately respond to Insiders’ requests for comment on the story.

The couple have a combined net worth of $ 2.8 billion.

Kardashian and West married in May 2014 after two years of dating in a lavish ceremony in Italy. They have four children: daughters North, 7, and Chicago, 3, and sons Saint, 5, and Psalm, 2, who will be 2 years old next month.
