Jefferson Co. Lawyer publishes listing of three,400 dad and mom that owe hundreds of thousands in youngster assist | Information

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The annual list of parents who collectively owe millions in child support is located in Louisville.

Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell’s office says they need help tracking down the parents on their annual criminal child child support list. In a press release, the office says more than 3,400 parents owe at least $ 3,000 and nearly 1,300 parents on the list owe at least $ 25,000.

Jefferson County alone owes more than $ 89 million in child support. O’Connell said children need support now more than ever. “The COVID-19 pandemic hit us all last year,” said O’Connell. “The children in our ward are in need of support and care more than ever, so my office continues to work to ensure that parents meet their financial responsibilities to the children of Jefferson County.”

Speaking at a news conference Monday, O’Connell said, “If each of the people on this list paid $ 60 a month, that money could mean the difference between a starving or fed child, or a guardian of an eviction or child Rent paid, make up. “

This year’s list of 3,467 people can be found online. Click here.

O’Connell said his office is “open to talking to individuals about changing support if something changes in their life”.

O’Connell’s office raised more than $ 66 million for child support last year. There are almost 55,000 open cases of child benefit this year. Women make up nearly 13% (446) of the criminal parents on the list, compared with just over 87% (3,021) for men. The woman with the highest amount owes $ 72,520.43. The highest sum for a man is $ 521,659.04.

“This list includes many who have completely disregarded their commitments to their children,” O’Connell said in the press release. “My staff work every day to connect children with the support they need and deserve. We need the help of the community to find the people on this list, as the information you share will be life-changing for children in need can.”

Anyone with information on how to find someone on the list can contact the Jefferson County Attorney’s Child Support Tip Number at (502) 574-0821 www.louisvilleky.gov/countyattorney or visit the office at 315 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.
