The former resident of Okanagan with a sick child asks for support

Over US $ 5,000 has been raised to support families with sick children

A fundraiser was started to support a child who is fighting for his life.

The GoFundMe campaign, launched by Shelley Chupik, aims to support three and a half year old Cyrus and his family. His mother, originally from Penticton, has three children and is a single mother.

Cyrus was born with MRS2, Peliziaeus-Merzbacher’s disease, a rare progressive, degenerative disorder of the central nervous system, according to Chupik. The child recently developed an inoperable cerebral hemorrhage due to their shrinking brain.

“Unfortunately, a decision has recently been made that Cyrus can live the few weeks he still has at home (unless he’s miraculously cured),” said Chupik.

“That’s a lot for anyone who is a single mother with no financial support.”

The money raised will be used to support the boy’s family while his mother takes care of him at home and will also help cover expected funeral expenses in the future.
