Everton man on remand
An Everton star is in police custody over the weekend, according to reports from The Sun and The Mirror that showed up last night.

The 31-year-old is said to have been arrested on suspicion of “child sex offenses”, but remains anonymous.
Greater Manchester Police said:
“Officials arrested a 31-year-old man on Friday, July 16, 2021, on suspicion of child sex offenses.
“He’s on bail pending further investigation.”
According to both outlets, the player returned home on bail on Friday after his release.
What did Everton say?
On Monday night, Everton posted a statement on their club website:
Everton can confirm that a first-team player has been suspended pending a police investigation. The club will continue to assist the authorities with their inquiries and will not provide any further comments at this point.

Little is known about the player other than his age and the revelation that he is “a regular for his country too,” but those two facts alone rule out the majority of the roster.
It remains to be seen how this case will develop from here, with serious allegations made against the player so far, but currently not proven.
The Premier League was shocked when Adam Johnson was sentenced to six years in prison in 2016 for “engaging in sexual activities with a possessed 15-year-old fan” despite being released three years after his sentence.
However, with the Premier League season approaching, it could have a serious impact on Everton and their pre-season plans.
