Man killed throughout custody change ID’d, suspect’s bail set at $250,000

34-year-old Devonte Campbell was charged with murder after shooting another man on the West Side on Sunday, police said.

A man was fatally shot and a suspect arrested after a change of custody on Sunday night on the West Side.

Devonte Campbell, 34, was arrested and charged with murder according to a San Antonio police report. His bail was set at $ 250,000, according to court records.

A caller informed the police about the shooting in Block 800 of Pleasure Park Drive around 8 p.m. and said a man had been shot. The man was later identified as Parnell Keith Curtis II, the Bexar County Coroner’s Office announced.

Curtis was found lying on the floor when officers arrived. He was taken to the university hospital, where he was pronounced dead, a report said.

Police said a woman’s ex-boyfriend shot her current boyfriend in a house in Pleasure Park during a change of custody.

Campbell was found two minutes from the scene on the 1000 block of South Brownleaf Street and his car was on the 800 block of Spring Park with the keys in the ignition, a report said.
