Drucker + Falk Continues Lengthy-Standing Help of Hampton Roads’ Samaritan Home with Current Wall Mural Sponsorship in Norfolk, Virginia

Drucker + Falk Sponsors 2022 Samaritan House Mural – the project was designed to help drive awareness during National Child Abuse Prevention Month

Our support of Samaritan House for the last several years is an extension of our corporate commitment that every person, especially our children, deserve a safe and healthy home in which to grow and prosper.

Drucker + Falk (DF), one of the nation’s most prominent multifamily management companies, announced its sponsorship of the Samaritan House’s most recent wall mural to drive awareness for National Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) month this April. Samaritan House helps victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and homelessness through a holistic approach to healing. They offer emergency and permanent housing, case management, counseling, and assistance in navigating the legal system for men, women, and children in need. With over half of all of the victims Samaritan House serves being children, the organization was on a mission to highlight this issue in a big way this year and DF was eager to continue to show their support to the cause.

To help raise awareness, Samaritan House partnered with local artist, Parrish Majestic, to paint a mural in the community on a wall of 757 Makerspace, an artist studio in the up and coming Railroad District of Norfolk – where high visibility was guaranteed. The official unveiling took place on Thursday, April 28th with remarks from the artist, a few sponsors, and the organization’s board chair.

While the mural is sure to add to the already artistic community, Parrish’s vision transcends what you see in the piece, having incorporated very specific flowers that represent things related to Samaritan House’s mission and clients.

Forget-me-nots: symbolize true love and respect. When given these flowers, it represents a promise to always be remembered.

Columbine: represent aspiration, endurance, ascension, risk-taking, good fortune, faith, and peace.

Lupin: stand for imagination, admiration, and overall happiness. The Lupine brings the energy of inner strength to recover from trauma.

Morning Glory (Purple): symbolize royalty, nobility and beauty, as well as innocence and love. This purple color is the main color for Samaritan House and domestic violence awareness.

DF has a long history of partnering with the organization, including support for previous murals rallying around domestic violence awareness. “Our support of Samaritan House for the last several years is an extension of our corporate commitment that every person, especially our children, deserve a safe and healthy home in which to grow and prosper. We are privileged and proud to be in a business where We provide such housing to more than 100,000 residents daily It is through our touching so many lives that unfortunately we see the sad reality of child abuse, most recently with Cody Bigsby, the 4 year old who has been missing from his home in Hampton for months. As a result, as April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, Drucker + Falk is sponsoring the mural located in the new Railroad District in Norfolk. It is our way of reminding those that pass by that the abuse of children must be stopped and is also our way of thanking those who dedicate their time, energy and heart to helping those in need” said Wendy Drucker, Managing Director for Drucker + Falk.
