2 in custody after 10-year-old lady lacking from North Carolina discovered secure

SAMPSON COUNTY, NC (WNCN) – Two people are in custody after a 10-year-old Sampson County girl was found Tuesday night, Sheriff Jimmy Thornton said.

An Amber Alert was issued to Breanne Marie Jones on Tuesday. MPs said she may have been with two people: Jonathan Lewis Jones and Christina Renee Edge.

At around 5 p.m. Tuesday, a person identified the suspicious vehicle on Harper Street, Clinton. The authorities responded to the area. Jones, the girl’s father, and Edge fled to a wooded area with the girl, the sheriff’s office said.

The MPs worked with the Clinton Police Department and the FBI to set up a perimeter. They found both suspects and the girl who was unharmed, according to a press release.

Jones has been charged with property violation and child molestation offenses. He received a $ 10,000 backed bond. Edge has been charged with parole violation and is being held on that charge.

The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation was still ongoing. Further fees are possible. Kidnapping allegations have not yet been filed as the Department of Social Services did not have an unsecured custody decision on the girl, the press release said.
